Why Swag Giveaways Are Important for Building Relationships with Your Clients

Swag giveaways are important relationship builders. Whether you giveaway T-shirts, mugs, headphones, or other swag with your company logo printed on it, it can be used to enhance the relationships that you have with your clientele.

Express Your Gratitude

Giveaways are a great way to let your clientele know that you appreciate them. You can do giveaways or contests in exchange for something else, such as them sending a referral your way.

It’s important to express your gratitude on a regular basis because it establishes brand loyalty. In fact, there’s a whole book on this subject — Giftology by John Ruhlin. If your clients think that you don’t appreciate them, they could easily leave and do business with one of your competitors. When they see the swag that you have given them, they will be reminded that you do appreciate them and that they should stay with a brand who knows how to express gratitude.

Say “Thank You”

You want to be sure that you thank your clientele for their business. You can choose to provide giveaways periodically as a way of letting people know that you’re grateful that they have chosen to do business with you instead of one of your local competitors. Rather than sending an impersonal email, you can choose to send them a package that they can hold in their hands. Here are 25 ideas to get you started.

Let Your Established Clients be the First Ones to See New Swag

It’s easy to order new swag when you are getting ready to attend a tradeshow or conference. Your promotional swag will be handed out in mass quantity to potential clients. However, it’s important to remember your existing clients. Not everyone chose to do business with you based on the promotional swag that you handed out. Send a sample out to your existing clientele first so that they can be the ones to see what products you are handing out. They will be grateful for the opportunity to see everything firsthand.

You also eliminate the feelings where certain clientele may wish that they hadn’t done business with you until now in order to get the swag.

Relationship building with a client doesn’t stop once they’ve signed the contract. Take every opportunity to let them know just how much you appreciate their business. You can do so periodically with random giveaways, in anticipation of a trade show, or even on the anniversary of doing business with them. Different types of swag may also be used so that you can choose a particular item based on the kind of relationship that you have, such as for a residential versus a commercial customer or a new customer versus a long-term one.
